My art style mainly focuses on semi-realism (as pictured below); however, this time I want to challenge myself and step out from my comfort zone. Therefore, this time, I tried to view artists/art styles that were different; not just the usual pretty and perfect finished products I look for. From minimalist art that told so much with so little, to detail-orientated line-art, I tried my best to find a nice variety.

I believe this will be beneficial when it comes to research and pre-prod. But, on the other hand, it may also prove to be an obstacle as I cannot include every single piece I have collected. And, therefore, will have to chose only a select few when the time comes. I must not be too indecisive and must start thinking about prospective choices otherwise it may impact my progress during the actual project.

Although my art does not involve a lot of horror elements, I have found Junji Ito to be a great source of inspiration. This is mainly due to the way Junji Ito works. It is fascinating how he can find inspiration from anything, including the most ordinary subjects. (e.g. cats) One would expect to look for something that is already unsettling or creepy when trying to create horror; however, Junji Ito does not have a problem working with anything around him. It is this way of working that has taught me that art does not always have to be so big and grand; that you can create anything from everything. You just have to be open-minded and willing to see it.
